survey is here!

 Friday/Saturday MAY 2/3 starting at 9:30am sharp!

FACULTY will discuss the following rules in class. Rules posted on CC Inform.

Preparation
* Faculty will review Survey procedures and explain how to edit and prepare work for presentation.
* Students MUST fill out ONLY ONE sign-up sheet for Survey.
* Faculty will return sheets to the office.
* Students will be assigned one or two click panels based on information provided on the sign-up sheet.
* Panel assignments will be posted on Monday April 28th outside of 7th floor Computer Lab.
Remember mounting and labeling takes time. Plan and design display ahead of time. Arrive early to set up.
Schedules and Deadlines
* Any late sign-up sheets must be delivered to the office by Wednesday, April 23th.
* Both Friday and Saturday Survey will start promptly at 9:30 am.
* Students are asked to be available at their panels 1/2 hour before posted start times.
* Failure to participate may result in the LOWERING of your final grades. Ask your teachers.
Vertical Click Display panels
* Students MUST purchase either (2) 30"H x 40"W black mat/illustration boards for one click panel or (4) 30"H x 40"W black mat boards for two click panels.

Note: When NOT using a shelf, an additional 25''H x 40''W mat board can be attached
with Velcro to the back of the middle mat board and suspended from there.
Horizontal Click Display panels w/ tables
* Horizontal clicks will be assigned to most Packaging and VisComm II students.
(an "H" will be placed next to student name on assignment sheet.)
* Students MUST purchase three 40" H x 30'' W black mat boards for one horizontal click panel. (see display in 7th Floor Gallery)
* One assigned number = 1/2 panel. Two assigned numbers = a full panel.
Mounting of Work
* All design projects must be mounted to black Foam Core, trimmed then positioned and mounted with Velcro to black mat/illustration boards (no other color is acceptable).
1. Bring completed mat boards to Survey ready for mounting on click panel.
2. The Velcro "loop" (soft side) is already attached to large click panel.
3. When at your panel: 1) place 2''-3'' piece of Velcro "hook" (coarse side) onto Velcro "loop" already on panel. 2) remove backing and 3) firmly place completed mat board on panel.
4. Velcro and other materials needed for Survey WILL NOT be supplied by the Department.
Shelf/Table/podium
* For 3-D work, a Foam Core shelf (12'' deep x 40'' wide) will be provided by the Department upon request.
* There will be no tables made available for 3-D work. (horizontal panels have a table below)
* Full length tables (24'' deep x 94'' long) are below the horizontal panels in Rooms 709/712/713/714.
* A limited number of podiums (18''x 18'' square) will be made available for Thesis students ONLY.



 
survey rules & guidelines

The following RULES and Guidelines apply to all students participating in Survey:
• NO T-Pins or foam tape.
• NO Spray-Mount of any kind is to be used in the Department or in the building.
• NO CUTTING ON TABLES and floors!! (Especially the Gallery show cases.)
• Please, PLEASE DO NOT LITTER!!
• The Department is NOT responsible for work left unattended or work left after the take-down period.
• Students should dress appropriately for the occasion — think of it as a job interview.
• Students MUST post an ID label with student name and course title(s).

Student Survey — Friday SCHEDULE ... (NOTE: an official schedule will be posted Survey morning)
Friday Reviews will start promptly at 9:30 am. Students electing to make Thesis presentations will do so in the morning. Faculty groups will move onto Vis Comm I students at 11:30 and critique work for the allotted time. Students must be available for a one-minute "concept" overview to the faculty.
Digital Design courses will present group videos in the 7th Floor Gallery promptly at 2:00 pm.
Prerequisite students must be available for a group presentation and review beginning at 3:00 pm.
Course faculty will present the assignments and goals of the class and will cite successful examples commenting on the project goals, design and presentation. Students will stand by their work and
may be asked to join in the conversation.

Saturday Reviews will start promptly at 9:30 am. Faculty will present the assignments and goals of the class. Students must be available for a one-minute "concept" overview to the faculty. Vis Com III students will show as a group as posted starting at 9:30 am. Student work presentations will begin promptly at 10:30 am. Communications Seminar classes will present their book projects in the late afternoon.
